Konita Wilks, DDS, received her Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Upon graduation, she served seven years as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy during which she participated in combat operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Dr. Wilks received her dental degree from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Dentistry where she graduated with honors and was appointed to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. Her post-doctoral education includes a General Practice Residency at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center and a Pediatric Dental residency at UCLA. Her research has focused on developing a standardized protocol for treating individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other neurodevelopmental disabilities in a traditional dental clinic setting. A board-certified diplomate in pediatric dentistry, Dr. Wilks served as Dental Director at the non-profit dental clinic, Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County, prior to returning to Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, where she currently serves as the Medical Director and Chief of Dental Services, as well as, the Medical Director of Quality and Patient Safety Officer for the hospital. Rancho is a nationally-recognized acute rehabilitation hospital which provides specialty services to patients with traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries. The dental clinic at Rancho specializes in providing quality care to individuals with disabilities, both physical and intellectual, and to those with debilitating chronic medical conditions.
