Sara Mulroy's Impact
Dr. Sara Mulroy, an internationally recognized scholar, physical therapist, and rehabilitation researcher was the Director of Rancho’s Pathokinesiology Laboratory for 26 years. Her memorial endowment will support educational, research, and scholarship activities with the goal to promote Sara’s passion to improve the lives of people with disabilities. Help ensure Dr. Mulroy’s legacy continues to live on within the Pathokinesiology Laboratory at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center by contributing to her endowment.​

Dr. Sara Mulroy succeeded her mentor Dr. Jacquelin Perry, MD, as the Director of the Pathokinesiology Laboratory in 1996
Her passion for helping those with disabilities was evident throughout her career; always trying to find ways through her years of clinical service and research to help improve the lives of those around her.
Sara never lost sight of the importance of training the next generation of clinical researchers and always made time to educate and support the growth of other professionals within the field of rehabilitation.

Endowment Purpose
Explore new research ideas
The endowment will provide financial support for the development and execution of pilot research projects investigating new ideas and avenues for research. Projects will focus on clinically relevant questions to ensure that they have high potential to improve the lives of future patients. Financial support will help cover resource expenditures and support staff working on the project. Principal investigator time is required to be provided as an in-kind contribution to help maximize the endowment's impact.
Creation of an endowed researcher position
Similar to an endowed professorship at a university, we aim to use the endowment to provide financial support for a permanent researcher position within the Pathokinesiology Laboratory, to be designated as the “Sara Mulroy Endowed Researcher". This position will help us to attract and keep top rehabilitation research talent to ensure Sara's legacy continues indefinitely.
Visiting students and scholars
The endowment will support the creation of new educational and scholarship opportunities for undergraduate students, graduate students, and young clinical investigators within the Pathokinesiology Laboratory. This support will provide the next generation of researchers and clinicians opportunities to receive critical specialized training focused on addressing the needs of those living with physical impairments due to neurological disorders. Individuals receiving financial support through this endowment will be designated as a “Sara Mulroy Scholar” .
Dissemination of research and scholarship efforts
No research is beneficial unless it is openly shared with those that need the information. The endowment will provide financial support for the dissemination of research and scholarship efforts. Examples of costs that could be covered include conference fees to allow staff to present findings, journal article publication fees to ensure open access to all, and those related to digital dissemination.
