SUZY KIM

Biography

Dr. Suzy Kim is Chief of Outpatient SCI and Neurologic Rehabilitation at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center and Adjunct Clinical Professor for the Department of Neurology at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Kim received her medical degree from University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine. She then completed her residency training at the top ranked Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. As a board certified physician in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) and one of 500 U.S. physicians with subspecialty board certification in Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Medicine, Dr. Kim has been invited to give expert presentations at national conferences and international symposiums for SCI.

 

Academically, Dr. Kim is well recognized in the SCI rehabilitation field as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Spinal Cord Medicine and PMR Journal, examiner for the PM&R Oral board exams, exam writer for the SCI sub-specialty board exams, author of SCI book chapters, and an expert reviewer for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation’s Quality of Life Grants. She remains active in the SCI community as an Ambassador for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation’s minority community outreach programs and serves as an Advisory Board member for the Challenged Athletes Foundation’s mentoring program and OC Goodwill Fitness Center. Combining her own athletic interests as an adaptive surfer and triathlete, Dr. Kim has been the Team Physician for the U.S. Paralympics Track & Field team since 2009 and volunteer team physician for US hand cycling and wheelchair tennis. She also served as one of the six US team physicians at the London Paralympics Games in 2012.
